Seattle Seahawks Win Super Bowl LX With Strong Defensive Performance

The Seattle Seahawks captured their second championship in franchise history on Sunday, February 8, defeating the New England Patriots 29–13 in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Seattle controlled the game from the opening quarter, relying on a disciplined defensive plan that limited New England’s scoring chances and set the tone for the night. 

Seattle’s defense was the defining factor in the win. According to ESPN’s game summary, the Seahawks pressured Patriots quarterback Drake Maye throughout the matchup, finishing with six sacks and forcing three turnovers. These plays prevented New England from building momentum and consistently gave Seattle strong field position. A fourth-quarter defensive touchdown, reported by FOX Sports, sealed the victory and ended any hope of a Patriots comeback. 

Head coach Mike Macdonald credited the team’s preparation and steady growth. “What you saw today is just the end point of a team that has been dedicated to becoming this team since we walked in the door in April,” he said during his post-game press conference, as covered by SWX Local Sports. 

On offense, running back Kenneth Walker III delivered a standout performance. He rushed for 135 yards and earned Super Bowl MVP honors, helping Seattle control the clock and sustain long drives. Walker’s success on the ground opened opportunities for the passing game and kept New England’s defense on the field. 

Seattle built its lead gradually, supported by kicker Jason Myers, who set a Super Bowl record with five made field goals. CBC Sports noted that these points kept Seattle comfortably ahead while the defense continued to pressure New England. 

Super Bowl LX drew 124.9 million viewers, according to Yahoo Sports, making it one of the most-watched broadcasts of the year. The halftime show, headlined by Bad Bunny, attracted an even larger audience with an average of 128.2 million viewers. 

Seattle’s championship was the result of strong defense, efficient running, and consistent scoring. For New England, the loss ended a surprising playoff run led by their young quarterback, but analysts say the team showed promise for future seasons.
